Description
Celebrate the life, commitment, and virtue of St. Monica with this banner design based on a painting from The Living Heart Co.
Jess’ description: “St. Monica is thought of as one of the most influential woman in early church history, second only to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is because of her unrelenting prayer for the conversion of her son, who was to become one of the most prolific theologians of all time. Often portrayed as an elderly light-skinned woman, Monica was actually most likely a Berber, a people of North Africa with dark skin. She also only lived to be 56 years old, and I took these historical facts into account when creating this portrait of her. I sought to portray her with a fiery gaze- one fitting of a woman of great tenacity, strength, courage, and perseverance. Known also for her charity and unparalleled faith, St. Monica is the patron of alcoholics, converts, and mothers. Her feast day is August 27.”
